339. …Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? ~Mary Oliver

Blessed be the longing that brought you here
and that quickens your soul with wonder.
May you have joy and peace in the temple of your senses each day.
May your days bring you quiet miracles that seek no attention.
If difficulties arise, and they will, may you be consoled
in the secret sympathy of your soul.
May you experience all your days as a sacred gift
woven around the heart of God.
May you live always in the neighborhood of love
and in awe of the mystery of being here.
May the frames of your belonging
be large enough for the dreams of your soul.
May you arise each day with a voice of blessing
whispering in your heart that something good is going to happen.
May you know today and always that you are ever embraced
in the kind circle of God.

You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. Psalm 12:2  ✝

Thank you, Lord Jesus, that you save, you heal, you restore, and you reveal Your Father’s heart to us! You have captured me with grace and I’m caught in Your infinite embrace!

  2. That is indeed a stinging question which certainly grabs my attention.
My aunt has been here for 10 days from West Palm Beach—mother’s sister and we are the only remaining ones on that side of the family—she came for last weekend’s shower for Abby—but 10 days—may we just say I’m exhausted!! Yet I am running around cleaning, still organizing this wedding and rehearsal dinner business as it is 6 weeks and counting…”dad do you have a suit that fits or do we need to go shop for a new one?” reply: “uhhh, suit?”
The kids are coming Sunday for Easter lunch—we close on their house tomorrow— and I am suddenly struck silently still by your question…or rather Mary Oliver’s question.
I’ve never been this far off track during Holy week—ever.
    Time to regroup!!
Thank you for the Irish, aka Natalie blessing—It is most apparent I am truly in need—
    Love to you my friend—-

    • Bless your heart. I thought I’d been able to sense a tenseness in you of late. Okay, missy, here’s the deal.
Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and breathe!
The rehearsal dinner will go well and the wedding will be beautiful. Just relax and breathe and enjoy! These moments are gifts that will only come around once!!! So just breathe in and out, in and out, and enjoy! Hugs, Natalie 🙂

    • Thanks, Michael. I sent those fern photos again but for some reason they are not wanting to attach. Do you have a regular email address not connected to WP? If so maybe that would work. Way back there I sent you some pictures of my greenhouse, I think, didn’t I? Hugs, Natalie 🙂

  3. Mary’s question is a good one. Brings to mind a phrase I’ve heard– “we’re blessed to be a blessing!” Sounds like a good answer to me! Thank you for the celtic blessings. God’s blessings to you, Natalie, during Holy Week! Hugs, Laura

    • The Summer Day

      Mary Oliver

      Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
      Who made the grasshopper?
      This grasshopper, I mean-
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down-
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don’t know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

  4. Natalie, your posts are always so thought provoking. I love the quote and as big of a reader as I am… I’ve never heard it. I’m going to guess that you are either a teacher, pianist or pastor… something about you strikes me as one of the three!

      • You keep making me laugh out loud! Yeppers, you called it right. Now don’t go holding me to any accountability when it comes to grammar and such. Remember I’m retired. Hugs, Natalie 🙂

      • 🙂 I’m so glad I made you smile! And about the grammar… as long as you don’t hold me to it either. lol My editors will be the first to tell you there are PLENTY of red marks on my manuscripts. And by plenty I mean massive proportions!

      • God has been good to me. Every one I’ve ever worked with has been so kind and so patient… two of things a girl needs when she has five kids and her manuscripts are FILLED with typos. FILLED. 🙂 Hugs to you!
