571. There are dark shadows on the earth, but its lights are stronger in the contrast. ~Charles Dickens

We look at life from the back side of the tapestry.
And most of the time, what we see are
loose threads, tangled knots and the like.
But occasionally, God’s light shines through, and
we get a glimpse of the larger design with God
weaving together the darks and lights of existence.

No moon, no stars, no sun, no blue of sky… No bees, no butterflies, no adoring, garden paramours… Only a foggy Sabbath steeped in silent, grey stillness as bit by bit by bit color empties out of the landscape leaving in its wake pallid, watercolored remains to blanket the lawn… Autumn has but a fortnight left before she relinquishes her throne to winter’s chilling reign. So I wonder if she’s weeping, if the falling mists are her crestfallen tears. It would certainly seem so as gloomy and grey as her recent days have been. Her palette, once streaked with chestnut and chocolate, maroon and mahogany, mauve and mulberry, orange and ochre, red and russet, is soon to be washed of all but grey and beige and evergreen. Thankfully, however, there are the brightly colored lights of Christmas to brighten the dying year’s ever-increasing, muted days.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. ~James 1:17  ✝

    • Hi, MIchelle Marie. There you go with those purple hearts again! Yeppers, I finally got all my roses deadheaded last week and won’t cut on them any more until the end of January. I miss my flowers but never the heat of summer.
I acutally like winter too though. I wouldn’t want it to be severe or go on as long as it does elsewhere, but ours aren’t too bad. I hope you have a marvelous week to, my dear. Hugs, hugs, hugs, and much, much love. N ❤ :0

  2. Yes, thank goodness for the baubles and lights—come January, things are going to be mighty bleak—but it will simply be more time of waiting—for rebirths and resurrections !!
Hugs and love to you my texas bluebonnet—or California citrus 🙂

    • Oh, but January is when all the seed catalogs start rolling in missy and then the dreamin’ and schemin’ can start in earnest. Hmmmm, we might have to think up something a tad more fun than California citrus. In the meantime I’m you’re bluebonnet Texas girl for sure. Hope you have a good week and the business is good at the store. Love and hugs, N 🙂

  3. Lovely Natalie. I love Christmas. And it’s much needed during the usually gloomy wintertime. The bright lights, decorations, parties and time with friends and family to warm the heart and bring light into our lives.
Meanwhile, here I am feeling hot.
    🙂 ❤

      • Actually, it’s not too hot right now. It’s cloudy so it’s definitely bearable. I’m in shorts and a light tank top, but my knees are feeling a little chilly. 🙂
        Blessings.
