A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid
of the branch breaking because
its trust is not in the branch
but in its own God-given wings.
Always believe in yourself.
~Anonymous
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, Or being hated,
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
~Excerpted lines from the poem, IF, by
British Nobel laureate Rudyard Kipling
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. ~Philippians 4:13 ✝

I’ve loved the poem “If” since my youth, and it was nice to read it again. Not so sure about the title quote though. When I was at a very low point in my life, I needed God’s help to believe in myself again.

Something to think about. A good quote to use to generate discussion.

This is one of my favorite poems. I learned it in high school and it still follows me. Also the Bible verse from Philippians 4 is one of my favorite scriptures and again it follows me through life.

My favorite Kipling poem Natalie. How did you know? Now if you could only post “Seasons Of The Heart” by Kahlil Gibrhan (sp?) I would be so happy, because I’ve lost my copy. I’m not online much any more though, so I guess I’ll have to settle for looking the poem up and copying it. Hugh sigh. Hugs, Angie

I shall look for that one Angie but it will towards the end of next week because we’re leaving very early in the morning to go see our daughter and her family. Take good care of yourself‼️😘❤️

Thank you Natalie. No rush, I’m only on the computer sporadically now. Just too tired to move around much lately. Enjoy your visit. ❤
