I’m sorry but I’ve held my tongue as long as I can about what’s going on in this country. If what I have to say incenses you or offends you, then I suggest you hit the unfollow button. It has simply become too sickening and disheartening to witness life in the USA come to the point where death threats and the destruction of property is supported and condoned over an election result. Sadly now it seems it’s no longer “we” the people any more. Instead it has become an ugly and divided nation of democrats versus republicans who cannot or will not get along for the good of the country and “we” the people. Whether one likes this president or not, it behooves ALL of us to support him and help in any way that we can to keep this country from going down in utter ruination. How truly tragic it would be to see this once great nation come to potentially absolute destruction because of the current hate mongering, hate filled rhetoric, and divisiveness. It just staggers my imagination and makes me sick to my stomach. My father fought for this country as have a multitude of others, and I’ve always been proud to be an American, but tonight I am thoroughly disgusted and ashamed of the state of the union. There are men and women all over the world who are putting their lives on the line to protect us and our country, and they deserve better than what’s going on back at home. Maybe we should ask every mother or wife or sister or brother or husband or father who has had to be told their loved one died protecting us whether or not they give a rat’s ass about who’s a democrat and who’s a republican. My guess is they’d just want to know that their loved one didn’t die in vain for people who didn’t give a damn about anything but their own special interests. Wake up America and get it together before it’s too late!!!
I appreciate all the comments that have been made here and have tried to answer them all. Because I don’t approve of name calling and try not engage in the blame game, I’ve edited a few of them. There have already been more than enough egregious things said and done pertaining to this election. Perhaps I shouldn’t have posted this, but freedom of speech is guaranteed by our constitution. Now that I’ve had my say, I will step back and do my best to support our President-elect. May God bless America, and may the Lord guide Mr.Trump and his cabinet in every decision they make.
Bravo, Natalie!! Shout it from the hilltops!! ❤

Kudos Natalie! Mr. Trump will soon be President of the United States. He was voted in by the majority. Weather we are happy or not “We The People” have to give him the respect that comes with holding our nation together. If he is found to be unfit for this position our Constitution affords us the right to have him impeached. You are right enough already, give the man a chance.
I am proud of you for this post Natalie. Well done. ♥♥♥

From a Brit’s point of view we are going through the same sort of thing here… over Brexit… I wholeheartedly agree with what you say… the vote is over… nothing is going to change the outcome and for the sake of the Country people need to pull together and not be so divisive. Just like the people of Britain need to realise that Brexit is happening and nothing is going to change that… so we should all pull together to make it work.

a friend of mine in Ireland made a marvelous observation…”looks like Trump is God’s man for the hour we are in”
I thought that a most insightful observation.
As it wasn’t that same sort of wailing and gnashing of teeth that he was God’s choice and what must God be thinking…and not that he is some anti Christ come to wreck havoc on us all, yada, yada, yada …
but rather that we are in a certain time and that Trump will be used in that time….
as we should remind ourselves that we the people continue “creating” that time….good and bad.
Just as Brexit is a reaction and result to and of the same “time”….
This all is not just about Trump or Clinton or Sanders, or democrats or republicans or liberals or conservatives…but you are right Natalie…it is about us, the “we” in “we the people”….and it would indeed behoove us all to see that Mr Trump can be successful—because if he can be successful as a president, then we the people and this “United” States of ours, are in turn successful…
Watching the sheer ugliness, disrespect and utter lack of decorum, manners and kindness has left me heartbroken. There have been plenty of presidents I did not vote for nor like. I worried of what would happen….BUT, and it is a big but, they were voted in, they were to be president, I may not have been happy, but it was what it was and I had to get on board for the sake of the Nation—demonstrating a respect for the office even if the particular president did not seem to do the same as I thought he should.
I did not throw a temper tantrum as we are seeing today.
We have two choices.
We either unite and work as one
or we remain divided and throw every away every sacrifice ever made for this united nation away and opt for anarchy….
That’s a lot of lost blood, limbs and lives that would then have been wasted in order for the childish behavior of selfishness to triumph.
May we join in prayer for our Nation and our President elect…trusting that God will help our leaders to steer this grand ol ship of ours to calmer waters….
Excellent Natalie!!!

Natalie, I agree. The other day Nicole Kidman said the same thing, she didn’t say she ‘liked’ or disliked Trump she said let’s follow and be positive. He IS going to be president, and we need to make the best of everything for all of our sakes, and the media is so biased it’s shocking. I applaud you for having the guts to say, this, you may lose ‘friends’ because of it. We need to stop dividing ourselves and start coming together, that’s what you have said here and you are RIGHT! (Just another of MANY reasons you’re my friend and will stay my friend)

Natalie, please allow me to share my two cents on this delicate matter in this important space. As you know all too well, every story has two sides. Each side has its supporters. Thus, whichever side you happen to land on you are going to face some backlash. It is evident that something wrong happened in the presidential elections. Whether Mr Trump benefited is still a mystery to the general public. But, even though we are not privy to information that could prove or disprove any of the theories that are tossed around, we the people should not pretend that nothing happened. Instead, we should take steps to find out what exactly happened and make sure it does not occur again. Still, it does not matter what anyone thinks of the elections at this juncture. The results are certified, and Donald Trump will be President.
So, if we the people wishes to defuse this delicate situation, we must be tactful. The Bible says soft answers turn away wrath. But grievous words stir up anger.

I couldn’t agree more Noel. Some very disturbing things happened during this election on both sides. And we the people absolutely do need to find out the truth of the matter regarding those things. I’m also very concerned about the obvious bias of the media. But my biggest concern is that people are being beaten and threatened and called all kinds of horrible names which is excalating an already volatile climate. But again you are right in that to difuse these situations we must be respectful and tactful which believe it or not I had been doing my best to do so even in light of toxic post after toxic post appeared over and over again on WP and in the news. Sadly my temper finally boiled over when I read last night that people were receiving death threats if they attended or performed at the inauguration and that groups of protestors were planning to destroy property and disrupt the festivities which means that the lives of first responders will be in jeopardy as well as the public. Perhaps I shouldn’t have said anything, but I did at least try to keep the vitriol to a minimum. I value our friendship and thank you for your tactful and mindful comment. I promise that I will go forward remembering what the Bible tells us. Hugs and blessings, Natalie ❤

I hear you, Natalie. This is what should happen.
You are calling for Americans to take the long view, Natalie, and wise you are to do so. You are asking them to rise above their hurts and disgust, and you are right to do so. But people often don’t take that long view. And our Internet communication often makes the situation worse. Hurt begets hurt, disrespect begets disrespect, and threats beget threats. It feels like a time where the wisdom of Godly people, such as Martin Luther King’s, is badly needed.
And why do I care so much about your situation in America? Most of my dearly beloved family members are Americans. I care a great deal for America and Americans.

I guess I’m just a dreamer, Cynthia, one who believes and has taught that people can and should rise and take the high road regardless of the past and the naysayers. I care deeply about my beloved family and this country too, and so for their sake I will always do my best to rise up. I know I don’t always succeed as I am as human as the next person, but I do try. It is the way I was brought up, and I proudly stand on the shoulders of my ancestors as do you. We absolutely do need people like MLK, but it will take someone who is willing to rise to that calling, and I pray that he/she does so very soon. Thanks for taking the time to comment, Natalie

I appreciate your honesty, dear friend. I was not going to comment at first, but now, it seems I am. My father also fought for this country, in two wars, and was seriously wounded in defending this country that I love. From a young age, I was taught to be respectful to authority so that is in my basic nature. It is in my nature to respect the office, the position, of the presidency, and I will continue to strive to do that, but to be honest, this has been a difficult couple of months for me where the election is concerned. Your post, and my respect for you, Natalie, reinforce my goal to refrain from negativity and instead to look for what is good and support goodness, to consistently take the high road. Two things give me hope: that God can work miracles and that people can change. Therefore, I believe it is possible that we can learn to work together. As my father taught me, “nothing is impossible.”

Natalie, I’m glad you posted this. I feel the same way as you do. Unfortunately, where I’m from I feel I can not be honest or vocal about how a lot of people are responding to the president. For me, I’ve always been neutral in terms of identifying as democrat or republican but I believe that the person who won was the person who was meant to win, and if we truly are American and we say America is the greatest in the world, then we as a nation should start behaving like it.
