Surely you’ve been thrilled by something that truly speaks to you, and when it does, your heart bursts with an adrenaline rush? I hope so! For me, is has happened time and time again in my garden during every season. And there is something about all of them that thrills and excites me through and through. But in spring the excitement ratchets up even more so especially when finding those first little green shoots pushing up through the soil or better yet that first bloom that makes me tremble with delight all the way down to my very core. As it sends pure elation racing through my veins, that spicy taste of something thrilling ushers along a sweet taste of hope. For in witnessing another round of earth’s sweet beginning in God’s Eden, I experience the richness of nature’s holy, ancient, and forever faithful design. In knowing that I am so filled with gladness that tears well up in gratitude for the privilege of being alive as well as for being granted time to lead a quiet life and work the soil with my hands in my tiny piece of Eden. Above and below are the first fruits of my labor this year; I planted these tulips last December, and their exquisiteness is taking by breath away day by day by day!

  2. Well, ahem….. the first thing that popped into my head was when I bought m college prom dress 😄😄. Not very noble, but there you have it. I went to this legendary vintage shop, ( I had always wanted to buy a vintage dress, but could never afford it), and I found two beautiful perfect dresses. The owner said I HAD to have both of them, like they were tailored for me, she told me I could pay for one of the dresses and come back and work for her for the other dress, she even gave me a discount on the first dress. It was still more than I had ever paid for a dress, but I just closed my eyes, and did it! On the way home I was adrenaline walking, my heart pumping, my smile wide, and when I came home I jumped around like mad and sang and screamed! 😄😄. I hung both dresses close to my bed so that they were the last thing I saw before sleeping and the first thing I saw when I woke up.

    The prom was a huge success! I wore the purple dress with a faux grey fur coat I had bought in London when I was 15 and fake pink vintage pearl necklace. The prom had a band playing songs from the 50s, like proper swing and jazz. It was amazing!! 😊😊😊😊.

    I started working in the vintage shop the next Saturday, and I loved it!! My job was to arrange the window display and create outfits with single pieces. Soooo much fun!!

  6. Wonderful Natalie. Just wonderful. And that is such a great quote by John Burroughs as well.
    I love living a simple life too. I also living in community and surrounded by beauty. We have hills and tons of colourful tropical trees and flowers all around us. We also have fruit trees: bananas, limes, mangos, avocado, guava, papaya, and other little fruits that I don’t the name in English.

  7. I do love things such as tulip—something planted and soon forgotten—until that one day of life in between that dull grey winter and a chomping at the bit Spring…when the bulbs do that magically thing they do…and remind us that hope is just around the corner!!!
