The unthinkable happened…

The unthinkable happened again today, this time in a small church in Texas. It was yet another act of crude violence carried out in absolute incoherence and in an absurd want of meaning to borrow part of a line by Oscar Wilde. And as always it leaves us heartbroken in its wake. So tonight, I, as are the families who suffered losses in this senseless act of mayhem, struggle for answers and ways to regain our equilibrium. May none of us be shaken in our faith and may we continue to cling to what we know is true, what is tried, and what is indestructible, the Lord God Almighty. Please pray for the families torn by this heinous attack and for the world at large for peace can only come if and when we come together as one and let peace begin with each and every one of us in our daily comings and goings.

  1. Incomprehensible in motive and violence. The gunman was mentally depraved and used an AK -something. Don’t know the numbers on the killing machine but that is of little consequence to lives of those lost. I live in Texas and about 180 miles north of the area. I am in stunned disbelief and have prayed that God gives strength to the families who lost loved ones. I don’t know the answer because this will be, to the politicians in Washington, something to sweep under the rug yet again. Most of them are beholden to the NRA who gives sizable chunks of money to both sides of the political spectrum. I am afraid that it will be up to citizens to hire security for every place of worship, store, concert, gas station, school and any place of importance. And the bottom line is that security measures still will not stop a mentally ill person or a terrorist. They manage to find a way to kill.

    • Sadly you’re absolutely right! Those who want to kill always find a way! I live in Texas too and belong to a large Baptist church in a nearby big city! For years they always have a police presence and security guards! Sad sad state of affairs for sure! 🙏🙏🙏

  2. My prayers are with the Sutherland Texas church family, the state, the US and the World. I have been praying for the Olympics, forboding feelings about Korea. . . Hugs 💕 🐚 🌅
I’m in Mississippi backwoods and bayou and it is relaxing but my old friend from college has anxiety and bi-polar disorders. She is much worse than I expected. . . Please say a prayer for Patrice (and my safe return on Thursday to Ohio) xo 💖
