672. Wear gratitude like a cloak and it will feed every corner of your life. ~Rumi

When you arise in the morning,
give thanks for the morning light,
for your life, and for strength.
Give thanks for your food
and the joy of living.
If you see no reason for giving thanks,
the fault lies only in yourself.

To be grateful is to recognize
the Love of God in everything He has given us –
and He has given us everything.
Every breath we draw is a gift of His love,
every moment of existence is a grace,
for it brings with it immense graces from Him.
Gratitude therefore takes nothing for granted,
is never unresponsive,
is constantly awakening to new wonder
and
to praise of the goodness of God.
For the grateful person knows that God is good,
not by hearsay but by experience.
And that is what makes all the difference.
~Thomas Merton

  1. soothing and lovely—I love the Peruvian Daffodil–it’s reminiscent of some sort of fancy white honeysuckle–so graceful. They start the yard tomorrow—great timing right?! Still battling with the nutty sociopath daughter but will go back Wednesday as the caregiver is to begin, that is if the nut doesn’t try and cancel it again—as well as the visiting nurse and back again on Friday to help take them both to a new doctor—but your post and beautiful image as giving me a piece of calm and tranquility—hugs my two stepping friend—-bruised peach

    • There you are. I’ve been thinking about you all day.
I love that Peruvian Daffodil too. Wish I had one. Oh, I’m so glad you have a break now until Wednesday, and I pray the nutty old sociopath stays away and out of the way! Awwwww, by little peach, I’m so sorry they have bruised your lovely spirit. Enjoy the next two days and soak up the Lord’s light and love. Mine too! Love you, N 🙂 ❤ ❤ ❤

  2. That is a fantastic photo. The Peruvian daffodil looks like it could be wearing an open cloak of gratitude. Rumi always has the perfect words, and you pull these things together so beautifully.
