Embrace sorrowful thoughts
for they sweep the house of your heart clean,
scatter the withered leaves,
and pull out the twisted roots,
preparing the ground for
the
new shoots of joy.
~Rumi
Listen to your heart.
It knows all things,
because it comes from
the Soul of the World,
and it will one day return there.

Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end. ~Isaiah 60:20 ✝

This is such a great message. I read once that there are 697 entries in the Bible about tears, weeping, etc. It must be an important function. After all, Jesus wept.
Hugs and Blessings,

Wonderful N. Paulo Coelho is quite known here in Brazil. You know he’s Brazilian right?

I heard once that tears are God’s way of helping you to clear out the sorrow of your soul and heart so that the memories will be sweet and happy. Thank you for sharing.

Boy, is this a timely post for me today, Natalie. I woke up crying–partly out of joy that my son finally has found direction and is planning to move to New Orleans in the near future and partly out of motherly “angst” and the knowledge that he won’t be around much longer for wonderful discussions on literature, movies, theology and the like. Tears ARE cleansing and I’m letting them flow….and I’m journaling to capture my thoughts and feelings at this special time in our family’s life. Eu gosto Paulo Coehlo! Obrigado, Natalie! Beijos e abracos (oxoxoxo in Portuguese) ~ Laura

Oh, I’m so glad it was a timely post and I think it’s a great idea to journal about the way you feel about what’s happening with your son. Besos y abrazos!

most beautiful, as is the image—I almost thought it to be something by Gustav Klimt —I think we all are shedding tears today as we watch the latest new from Charleston. . .

It does look a whole lot like a Gustav Klimt, doesn’t it?!
That senseless shooting is so sad indeed my friend. Hugs, N 🙂 ❤

Tears cleanse the soul.
Sometimes I fight to keep my composure — using up a lot of energy in the process. But once I let go of my need to know why, to be in control, to be right and just have a good cry I feel so much better. I never understood why some people made themselves cry on purpose, but now it’s starting to make sense. It the release the eases all the pent up tension. The release is cleansing 🙂

Indeed they do. Had the eye no tear the soul would have no rainbow! I cry very easily, but it makes some people uncomfortable. But it is such a great release for pent up emotions of all kinds, including joys! Hugs, N 🙂 ❤

I never cry. No point. It doesn’t change anything.
