1047. Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all. ~Dale Carnegie

Living with chronic pain is not a choice. No one in their right mind would choose to live with pain day after day as well as have to give up things they love to do because of it. And just because others can’t see it or feel it, doesn’t make it any less real or painful for its victims. Pain changes people; nevertheless these people get up everyday and push themselves to do their best, and all they ask for and need is understanding and compassion and not to be treated as if the pain in not real. The only lie they tell is when someone asks how they are and they say, “I’m fine.” Chronic pain sufferers are not striving to get sympathy and/or attention; they are just trying to get by the best way they can. Everyone fights some kind of battle in this life, but because chronic pain is not visible, chronic sufferers can only pretend to be happy and well which is an example of how truly strong they are and how extremely good God is to give them the strength and fortitude they need to carry on.

“Yet if I speak, my pain is not relieved; and if I refrain, it does not go away.” ~Job 16:6  ✝

It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. ~2 Samuel 22:33  ✝

Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always. ~1 Chronicles 16:11  ✝

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts Him, and He helps me. ~Excerpt from Psalm 28:7  ✝

  1. Chronic pain must not be fun at all. I have shoulder, neck and upper back pain daily because I sleep crooked. I do not think it compares to the pain of others though. Are you gettibg bad headaches still N?
    Love and hugs.

    • Why how sweet of you, Carisa. I wrote this not because of mine but because I have several followers who deal with chronic pain. When I found the photo on Facebook, I decided to use it as a way to talk about it in hopes that others would be more compassionate about the unlucky ones who have to deal with it. I’ve read before that the Lord often carves deep crevices into our souls so that the good stuff can rise to the top. Thank you for your sweet comment and compassionate response. Love and hugs, N 🙂 ❤

  2. my husband has had chronic pain in his lower back / hip for years—which is actually a hip replacement long in the making… running his own business makes taking 4- 6 weeks away for surgery and recovery not an option, so he lives with his legs buckling if he turns a certain way, the constant aching and limp—and on those rare days, when the pain is minimal—he still limps, out of habit—it does change us—it slows us, makes us more worrisome, yet often more focused and often more diligent, making the most of the time when we are feeling better—may God pour His healing balm upon all who are need of relief….both physical as well as emotional…

  3. It’s a different kind of courage – to get up and keep on doing what needs to be done, to continue to create beauty and compassion such as your Sacred Touches. It is an honor to behold. I pray and wish for your healing and comfort.

    • Awwwwww JoAnna how kind of you! I just refuse to be defined by my chronic pain. It’s not who I am; it’s just my circumstances. Thank you so much for your prayers and well wishes. Much love and huge hugs, Natalie 😘❤️
