What I Have Learned So Far

~Mary Oliver

Meditation is old and honorable, so why should I
not sit, every morning of my life, on the hillside,
looking into the shining world? Because, properly
attended to, delight, as well as havoc, is suggestion.
Can one be passionate about the just, the
ideal, the sublime, and the holy, and yet commit
to no labor in its cause? I don’t think so.

All summations have a beginning, all effect has a
story, all kindness begins with the sown seed.
Thought buds toward radiance. The gospel of
light is the crossroads of — indolence, or action.

Be ignited, or be gone.

May my meditation be pleasing to Him, as I rejoice in the Lord. Psalm 104:34  ✝

Thank you, Jesus, that you save, you heal, you restore, and you reveal Your Father’s heart to us! You have captured me with grace and I’m caught in Your infinite embrace!

  1. She does look like a cabbage rose, but it’s a bourbon rose called Souvenir de Malmasion. Perhaps she has a cabbage rose in her lineage. She is one of my faves for sure. Thanks, I’m glad you like my line about being caught in Christ’s infinite embrace. No place better to be, huh?! Hope you’ve had a good day. Love,N
