In the attitude of silence
the soul finds the path in a clearer light,
and what is elusive and deceptive
resolves itself into crystal clearness.
Our life is a long and arduous quest after Truth.
~Mahatma Gandhi
When I spied it, this Canna’s last bloom of summer was standing supremely beautiful in its silence and solitude. It was early in the day, no one else was around, and it was deliciously quiet in the garden. But in the silence I heard whispers, murmurings of the undeniable truth that all is the valued work of the Divine’s intelligent design and not the random scattering of atoms. On a late summer’s day, this was more than enough for me to be grateful and celebrate the life the Lord had granted me and the flower.
I arise today
In the name of Silence
Womb of the Word,
In the name of Stillness
Home of Belonging,
In the name of the Solitude
Of the Soul and the Earth.
~John O’Donohue
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” ~Psalm 46:10 ✝

Ooooooo and Ahhhhhh—Ive never seen such a pretty canna–gorgeous Natalie–thank you for sharing. I’ve spent the day ridding the pots of the spent geraniums and put in the goodies from the other day—things looks so much better!!!

Thanks, Cookie. This is one of my favorites, actually it’s the only one I’ve got, but I chose it because I loved it so much.
I’m so glad you’ve had a good day sprucing up your place and getting rid of the spent things. It will definitely cheer you up. I know it always does me. Love and hugs, N 🙂

Cannas can be so very beautiful. We have to keep them in pots, of course, or like so many thing they tend to overtake all else. Perhaps a comment on makind? Beautiful post.

Thank you, Susan. I’m so glad you enjoyed the post. I’ve admired Canna’s for a long time but this is the first one I’ve planted in my yard. I sure hope I’m not sorry I did later on. At least I put it in a place where it can expand a little if it chooses. I just adore the red freckles on this one and would hate it if I had to get rid of it. I might try putting one in a pot like you said before I did that though. I pray you have a wonderful week coming up. Blessings, Natalie 🙂

You’re welcome Natalie. We’ve found that cannas adore our climate in Australia and spread with gay abandon. Great for wet or damp areas where they have a brilliant showing. We have found though that their spreading ability can be a problem and if we dn’t have a large garden large pots or smaller enlosed areas end to keep them n check. you do have a beautiful one though.
Blessings, Susan x
