La plus grande des joies
C’est de croire en Toi
Et de se réfugier en Toi
Père des Mondes,
Et de l’Enfant en moi.

Translation:
The greatest joy
It is to believe in You
And take refuge in You
Father of the Worlds
And of the Child in me.
Recently I was up early enough to witness dawn’s first golden glimmer of light pierce holes in the dense, leafy green darkness at the back fence. Then as the morning light lifted night’s dark shades higher and higher, the fragrance of Autumn Clematis floated along on the bright morn’s happy wings. Soon butterflies, creatures of the wind, danced and rejoiced while happy voices on the TV echoed in celebration within the walls of a sanctuary. Therein the sunlight fell in brilliant fragments through the stained glass windows, and all that those colorful bits of light touched seemed to be filled with the same kind of holiness that I had felt streak through our trees.
“To speak truly, few adult persons can see nature. Most persons do not see the sun. At least they have a very superficial seeing. The sun illuminates only the eye of the man, but shines into the eye and heart of the child. The lover of nature is he whose inward and outward senses are still truly adjusted to each other; who has retained the spirit of infancy even into the era of manhood.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Love that picture with that cast dancing mix of color—and the imagery of your garden cast in the same radiant light, the same light Radiating from the Master Creator–hugs and love—cookie

Ohhhh, may I be able to see nature through the eyes of a child. Children are full of wonder. How do we lose that?

Life! Life gets in the way or we let it get in the way I should say! Years ago a mentor of mine pointed out to me that the child we once were never died. He/she just became covered over with all our years of growing. So she required me to feed my inner child at least once a week, and I did that by treating myself to a chocolate ice cream cone for several months. It worked wonders and I began to see the world through the eyes of that child again and remembered who she was. The real perk was discovering how much I liked being me instead of trying to be what and who others wanted me to be. Hugs, N 🙂 ❤

Really? You ate a chocolate ice cream cone every day for several months? Sounds yummy. I’m sure your inner child thoroughly enjoyed it.

–Oh, I love this Natalie. I also have decided to stop being who others want, or think I should be. It really doesn’t matter what others think. That’s something I think God has been teaching me these past few years. I’ve been in a real “Mary” time. Giving up being Martha for a bit. It’s so much better just to sit at Jesus’ feet, to listen to and learn from here. Because that’s all that’s really required. Obedience to how he leads, not to what I feel I should do because of others.
Thanks for sharing this.

Not chocolate ice cream every day, just every week. Sorry about that. Good for you Staci! I’m so glad you are going to just be who you are, who God made you to be. It’s so much easier and you’ll find that you really like who He made you to be. I know I did. And I love this: “I’ve been in a real “Mary” time. Giving up being Martha for a bit. It’s so much better just to sit at Jesus’ feet, to listen to and learn from here. Because that’s all that’s really required. Obedience to how he leads, not to what I feel I should do because of others.” Oh I’ve been trying to work on that too. So here we go off to be Mary Staci and Mary Natalie!!! Love and hugs, N ❤ ❤ ❤

Natalie, the picture is absolutely AMAZING – I often see reflections through stained glasses in churches… Christina Rossetti is right, we would be like orphans without God! Thank you so much for mentioning my poem… just a very interesting note about your translation – the last line is “Et de l’enfant en moi”, it means that God is also my fafther (The inner child’s father) and not that God is a Child within. BUT I love your translation, because I also could have written
“Père des Mondes,
Et Enfant en moi”.
It’s a very meaningful and powerful metaphor, I mean, thinking the Father is Child in our heart and that me must take care of Him…
And I love Ralph Waldo Emerson’s very wise quote!
Ah, Natalie, M E R C I 🙂 ♥♥

Merci, cher Frederic. I’m glad you liked the post. I did correct the translation of the last line of the poem. I’m so sorry I mistranslated it. Looking at it again I see that indeed I did, but, like you, I love the inadvertent metaphoric nature of my translation. I pray you are having a wonderful day, mon ami! Blessings and hugs, N 🙂 ❤ ❤ ❤
