He couldn’t stop smelling the air
in great, deep, loud sniffs.
It was so delicious.
It smelled of water, and mud,
and maple trees, and autumn.
~Elizabeth Enright
Sweet fruit
high above me,
out of reach
up in the canopy
formed by wire and bush
Another smell of autumn
sweet sweet smell
of Concord grapes
warming ripening
ready to burst with flavor
strong urgent smell
lured me closer
spreading outward
from the makeshift arbor
a plume twenty feet wide
enticing, coaxing
me to linger
luxuriate in its aroma
smile at the memory
of other pickings
long ago

But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. ~2 Corinthians 2:14 ✝

Beautiful Natalie. Memories flooded my mind of years ago. We would sit under the arbor of at my aunt and uncle’s house as we ate spaghetti and meatballs and smell the delicious scent of the grapes. As a treat my uncle would cut a small bunch for us. I can almost taste the sweetness right now. My mom said he made the best wine too. That we didn’t get to taste. :o) Thank you for letting me travel back to a wonderful time. :o)

Ooooooh, not too bad LMS, just things get on top of one now and then. We’re going away for a week or so and I won’t be posting next Monday. Having an internet break might perk me up a little. Hope you’re well.

Indeed it does. I’ve been wanting and needing to get to Galveston since last year about this time, but we put it off and then in January I hyperextended my left knee and it is still NOT MUCH better. They injected it with meds and I had accupuncture and now my DO is trying to stretch it and get it back into place. In the meantime I’ve been hobbling around like a gimp since last January. And trust me it is exhausting. So it looks like we won’t be going this fall either. I am going to a different doc for a second opinion in November. Since it’s not bone on bone yet, the one I’ve been seeing doesn’t really
want to do a knee replacement. So we see’ll. So I pray you have a great time for both of us and take some amazing photos. Bon boyage! Hugs, LMS ❤

Ouch! That hurts Natalie. I feel your pain and frustration. I injured my knee in the army, kneecap shattered and the joint pushed out backwards. I have osteoarthritis but won’t be having a replacement for a few more years yet. 😦 I do hope it gets better for you, you can’t keep a California girl from going to the beach. 🙂 I will take amazing pictures that will astound you, I hope. 🙂 Love n’ hugs to you LMS.
Cheers
