Is not this a true autumn day?
Just the still melancholy that I love–
that makes life and nature harmonize.
~George Eliot
Autumn Rose
Beaming bright across the galaxies,
Your petals extend through heaven’s gate.
You waited until now to reveal yourself;
For the world it was worth the wait.
Autumn is your awakening,
While the world prepares for winter’s sleep.
Summer has quickly slipped away,
While your colors of coral and pink run deep.
Some think age is upon you,
But truth is you are now fulfilled.
You blossomed into life in maturity,
Before the north wind’s chill.
Soon golden fields will be covered,
In a virgin blanket of snow.
The streams will freeze then re-awaken,
For another, beautiful autumn rose.

Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name. ~Psalm 103:1 ✝

What a beautiful rose complete with buds—plus a wonderful poem.
I just wish things would cool down just a little bit—I still don’t “feel” very fallish wearing sandals and shorts 🙂
One little hummingbird seems to be hanging around, the others appear to have gone—which worries me for the straggler!!
Blessings for your Sunday Natalie–
love to you—Julie

It was 97 here one day last week and then 93 yesterday, but last night a cool front blew in along with some rain and we went down to 56 and only got up to 67 today. It was cloudy and coolish all day and I had to finally put on some long pants. Now it looks like we’ll be in the 70’s or low to mid 80’s the next ten days. So it is gradually getting a little more like fall on this end. But ya never know, next week we could go back up in the 90’s.
I do hope you get some cooler weather very soon. That rose was such a big fat one that I had to post it. I’m glad you enjoyed it and the poem. Hugs and love, N 🙂 ❤

Belinda has found the right words: you fill a soul with your posts, you fill my soul with wonders… it’s the “msterious power” of love, sharing and generosity… I especially love the Psalm mention – Have a nice Sunday my dear friend ♥

Thank you, Amy. This rose is actually a bit darker when she first blooms, but the heat that day took some of her color away and then it rained and that softened it some more. But whatever stage she’s in, she’s one of my favorites. Blessings and hugs, N 🙂 ❤
