540. The two things we all share in this world are laughter and pain. ~Kevin Hart

Please read and accept my apology…

The coming and going of the seasons
gives us more than the springtimes,
summers, autumns, and winters of our lives.
It reflects the coming and going
of the circumstances of our lives
like the glassy surface of a pond that shows
faces radiant with joy or contorted with pain.

Since last January, I’ve been unable to straighten my left leg and have had to hobble around on a cane. My doctor has tried injecting an assortment of things into the knee to help it but to no avail. So today I had an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon, and the x-rays show that my knee and kneecap are shot. The only thing that can be done now to make it better is for me to have a knee replacement. After talking it over with my husband and daughter, I’ve agreed to do that. The earliest date the surgeon had on his schedule, however, was February 3rd, and so I’ll have a few more months of hobbling to do. I can manage that but I do have a big concern for which I need prayers. As you know, if you’ve read my about page, two years ago on November 9th, 2012, I had an Ischemic stroke. Two clots had to be removed from my brain, and although I was miraculously healed and left with no residual damage from the event it does increase my risk when it comes to surgical procedures and blood clots. My age is another factor that increases the risk. So I’m asking for prayers for the next 4 months. Please, if you will, ask the Lord to protect me and restore my health and wholeness once again. Finally, although I try to read them every day, I apologize that I wasn’t able to read all the new posts and comments last night. It had been such a long day, and I was exhausted. Hugs, love, and blessings, Natalie

  1. Of course I will pray for you lovely natalie!! 🙂 ❤ I am sure everything will be okay, I just took care of an elderly lady a couple of months ago who had gone through the same surgery. She is much older than you, and she couldn't even stand up, her knees were completely gone. The operation went beautifully and she is fine now 🙂 I am sure you will be too! I will pray for that! You have my love always, you know that ❤ ❤ ❤

  2. Yes Natalie–prayers will continue for relief—healings come to us in many disguises—even at the hand of a surgeon. I believe that you would not have been brought to this choice if God had not seen that all the things that need to come together for success were not already in place. My prayer will not only be for the physical but for the assurance and peace that All Shall be Well, All Shall Be Well, All Manner of Things Shall be Well. . .
    an encompassing Hug Natalie—

  3. Natalie, I have and will be praying. Surgery is a big enough event without having to worry about other issues. Sending you a big hug from my home in Ontario. Hold on to The Rock, every time you feel fear or uncertainty creeping in, as I have had to do recently.

  4. Oh Natalie… I sorry to hear you are going to have a surgery… and that you are worrying. OF COURSE I’m going to pray and ask the Lord to protect you. But I already know He absolutely loves you, and He will help you. I know that anaesthetic are stressful. See: you had an Ischemic stroke with two clots removed for your brain and you were saved. Why? Because you have to teach us, because the world needs wise and loving soul like yours. Please let your readers and friends know about your surgery. I’m sure it will be okay and you will be able to walk in your garden with your grandchildren WITHOUT a cane! It makes me happy – and it makes the Lord happy, you know I really can see this image in my heart. You will see, it will be real 🙂 Much love and many prayers for my beloved Natalie ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

    • Oh sweet, sweet Frédéric! Your words are so encouraging and they fill me with hope and peace. I thank you for your prayers and your abiding love, presence and warmth in my world. Je t’adore et je t’aime et je fais la bise, et la bise, et la bise!!! ❤ ❤ ❤

  5. Oh Natalie. …I agree with Frédéric’s comment (that probably isn’t a surprise! ) 😉

I will keep you in my prayers every single day and I just know that you will come through your surgery with flying colors!! You will be amazed at how well you do. I do know that when a joint is replaced there is a lot of rehab work that must be done…but I know you will do it!! The difference in outcomes is usually due to how well a patient follows the guidelines.

We can all say prayers for you and keep you in a beautiful healing energy …but you have to do a lot of work PRIOR to your surgery…I am sure that you know this. A patient’s state of mind prior to, and their belief in the best possible outcome is paramount!! Much love to you dear friend ❤ ❤

  7. I’m sorry that you’re having knee problems. All of the sudden it seems like everyone is.
I read another blog whose owner had both knees done last winter and he’s off climbing mountains again, and I hope and pray that you’ll see the same kind of results. Take care.

  8. Oh my Natalie. I’m so sorry to hear about your pain, and that you’ll have to endure it for another four months. I will keep you in my prayers. I’m so glad and thankful that you are in the Lord’s hands. With Him, we can’t go wrong. Try and keep strong, my sweet friend. On another note, I must say that you keep wetting my thirst for this mixed media art. Your photos are always so stimulating visually. I love eye candy.
Many blessing and much love to you.

      • Heyyyyy, a kindred spirit. What do you think about doing classes online? I ask because Shonna, the artist from my last post is working on a beginner’s course. I’ve already told her that she can count me in.
        Much love to you N.

      • Wow, I think that might be great fun and an easy way to get started, but when is she starting the class up? I’d want to wait until after I get my knee fixed so I could be fully “there” and on board. Right now it’s hard to focus on too much other that staying ahead of the pain and getting what needs to be done around here done. Hugs, N ❤

      • I’m so sorry to hear that Natalie. I really hope these months just fly by with minimal pain, and that you get the surgery done and over with, with great results.
I don’t know when she plans on launching the class. I’ll let you know once I have more info. Maybe you’d be interested in this new faith-based artist community that started online. If so, here’s the link:

  10. So sorry about this, dear Nathalie, and I certainly will keep my fingers crossed for you. You must be in awful pain and won’t know yourself with a new knee. Until then, keep your chin up …and thanks for all the poetry through the year 🙂
