541. Little things seem nothing, but they give peace, like those meadow flowers which individually seem odorless but all together perfume the air. ~Georges Bernanos

Who will tell whether one happy moment
of love or the joy of breathing or walking
on a bright morning and smelling the fresh air,
is not worth all the suffering and effort
which life implies.

Let us bless the air
Benefactor of breath,
Keeper of the fragile bridge
We breathe across.

Air waiting outside
The womb, to funnel
A first breath
That lets us begin
To be here,
Each moment
Drawn from
Its invisible stock.
~Excerpt from In Praise of Air
by John O’Donohue

In His hands is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind. ~Job 12:10  ✝

  1. Wonderful Natalie. And what a stunning picture. I was just thinking this morning during my quiet time about how we, tiny little humans, that think we’re all so powerful and smart, are just a specks in the grand scheme of things. HOwever, we are made in the image of God. Wow! That’s how important we are. And we are stuck to this Earth by a protective sheet, called atmosphere, that surrounds the Earth. For this reason we are able to breathe and continue living. How great is that eh? I wonder if all people think about these amazing miraculous things of life that we, so often, take for granted. I know you do.
    Love and blessings.

    • Wow, what a great summation and thoughts, Staci! I wonder that too, but I don’t think they do and I can’t imagine why they don’t. How can you live in this world and witness all the amazing things in it without being filled with wonder and awe??? And yes, far too many people take all this for granted and never seem to see the wonderment of it all. Sad, so, so sad! I’m so glad that you and I and Frederic and others share that in common! Have a great weekend, missy!
      Love, N ❤

  2. Beauty in your words and images again my friend—I have prayed that a peaceful balm warmly washes over you, ridding you of your worry and dread for the surgery—prayers will continue–as Grace will wrap you tightly. . .
    love and hugs—-julie
