Wild Geese
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting —
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
~Mary Oliver
Several of my readers have recently voiced, either by word or in the sounds of their silence between the lines, a measure of sorrow and despair. Know that you are loved and held in the arms of Divine Grace as well as in my heart and prayers. May you soon encounter the “angel of hope” bearing the “commonplace little miracle” which will “mend again the necklace of your days.”
You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in your providence watched over my spirit. ~Job 10:12 ✝

Beautiful. It reminds me of the footsteps – when people look back and see that there are times when there is only one set of footsteps they wonder why – it is because God is carrying them through those times. 😀

You are very welcome. I’m so heartbroken tonight because Frédéric has chosen not to accept comments or make them. I respect his right to privacy, but I wish he wouldn’t cut himself off from like this. I don’t know why, but I do know he’s very hurt and that’s hard enough to handle without doing it all alone. I hope at least that he stays in touch with you. Hugs, N ❤

Oh, Natalie…I know you are worried about our dear friend. I wouldn’t view it as cutting himself off…I think it is just a break. I love our community here, as I’m sure we all do…but it takes a giant chunk of time to be present the way we want to be present. I believe he will be reading…so he will be here…and I also know that he is going to be okay. I know you will “feel” him…we just won’t have his beautifully encouraging comments…and I will miss them too!
Don’t think of him as “doing it alone” because I know that every one of his followers will send him positive energy and love…and comfort! And he will “feel” it!!!
You are such a kind and caring soul…you piece together the information that is not directly written…I can tell that you just “know” certain things. That is a comfort to me…because I know that your compassion and love goes out to those who need it! Much love to you Natalie…I am so grateful to you. And I promise you I will help our friend in any way that I can!! ❤ ❤
