619. All the flowers of all the tomorrows are in the seeds of today. ~Author Unknown

dry seeds scatter
from my hand into the wind
one clings
as if to say there is in me
something yet to be

Here in a quiet and dusty room they lie,
Faded as crumbled stone or shifting sand,
Forlorn as ashes, shrivelled, scentless, dry –
Meadows and gardens running through my hand.
In this brown husk a dale of hawthorn dreams;
A cedar in this narrow cell is thrust
That will drink deeply of a century’s streams;
These lilies shall make summer on my dust.
Here in their safe and simple house of death,
Sealed in their shells, a million roses leap;
Here I can blow a garden with my breath,
And in my hand a forest lies asleep.

See how seeds, that Autumn winds send,
And throughout Winter neglected lay,
Uncoil two little green leaves at one end,
With tiny root at the other taking hold in the clay.
As, lifting and strengthening day by day,
It pushes upward and onward, sprouting new leaves,
And cell after cell the Power in it weaves
Out of the storehouse of soil and clime,
To fashion a flower in due course of time…

You cleared the ground for it, and it took root and filled the land. ~Psalm 80:9   ✝

  1. I can tell you’re like a kid in a candy store right now—I can just see you sitting there, catalogs and packets spread out helter skelter rummaging through it all–the yes pile, the maybe pile—giddy and gleeful—I’m happy knowing you’re happy—

    • Were you peeking in my window today??? This made me chuckle and you are so right. I am like a little kid in a candy store. You’re so sweet to say tha my happiness makes you happy too. I feel the same way about you, my friend. 3 weeks, 6 days and counting…
      Hugs and love, N 🙂 ❤

  2. Very true Natalie. There are many things that we look to be very minor but there lies the power which God has placed for the world to continue to grow till Jesus Christ comes. Thanks for the reminder and God bless you more abundantly. Have a blessed day.
