689. The air soft as that of Seville in April, and so fragrant that it was delicious to breathe it. ~Christopher Columbus

There is no glory or blossom
till looked upon by loving eye;
There is no fragrance in April breezes
till breathed with joy as they wander by.

Hark, I hear a robin calling!
List, the wind is from the south!
And the orchard-bloom is falling
Sweet as kisses on the mouth.

In the dreamy vale of beeches
Fair and faint is woven mist,
And the river’s orient reaches
Are the palest amethyst.

Every limpid brook is singing
Of the lure of April days;
Every piney glen is ringing
With the maddest roundelays.

Come and let us seek together
Springtime lore of daffodils,
Giving to the golden weather
Greeting on the sun-warm hills.
~Lucy Maud Montgomery

Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime; it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms. He gives showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone. ~Zechariah 10:1   ✝

  1. My spirit is leaping with joy on this lovely day, the first day of April. The showers may come at will, but for me, there is springtime joy in the air, and Easter quickly approaching. Sorrow followed by endless joy. As usual, you speak to my soul Natalie. Hugs, Angie

    • Oh, I always forget that our seasons are flipped. Easter in autumn sounds so strange. Interesting to note that Scripture talks about autumn and spring rains as though those are both essential times for rain to fall to the earth. I pray you have a very nice and blessed weekend, Sir L. At the moment LMS has morphed into LMC(Cloudy) and her heart is heavy
      for reasons I shall not burden you with. Life’s like
      that it seems. Hills and valleys, hills and valleys. Hugs and love, N 🙂 ❤

      • Yes we’re upside down here LMC. This rain will set us up for a good winter, our water tanks will be filled again and the dams will fill up. Then there’s the new garden, I never whinge about too much rain. Well whatever is burdening you Natalie I do hope that it works its way through quickly for you. There’s hills and valleys then the landslides. Extra Love’n Hugs,
        Laurence.
