702. Is it so small a thing to have enjoyed the sun, to have lived light in the spring, to have loved, to have thought, to have done? ~Matthew Arnold

What delights us in the spring is
more a sensation than an appearance,
more a hope than any visible reality.
There is something in the softness of the air,
in the lengthening of the days,
in the very sounds and odors of the sweet time,
that caresses us and consoles us
after the rigorous weeks of winter.

  1. Daisies, such unassuming flowers to begin with, now shining as Gerberas, one of my favorites as the shy little things they were, and overwhelming as they shine with the brightness of man’s interference in their perfection. Pretty Natalie, but I still love the shy ones better. Your poetry makes it okay though. Hugs, Angie

  2. Gerberas are my all-time favourite flowers. Actually, my wedding bouquet was of orange Gerberas. I even bought one once for my home, but it dies within the next couple of days. I tried finding out how to take good care of them online, but to no avail. I actually have a beautiful bunch of them with babies breath on my kitchen table right now.
    Hugs 🙂 ❤

    • Oh, I’ll bet your wedding bouquet was gorgeous! I’ve had luck with keep one in a pot all last year and now so far this year. I keep it in the greenhouse for the winter and it blooms in there and then I move it out and it blooms again. So I’m doing something right I guess. I’m so sorry you didn’t have any luck with them. Hugs, N 🙂 ❤

      • Ohhhhh, I wish I had your green thumb Natalie. I’m homeschooling my oldest (8 yrs) because he has Asperger’s Syndrome and school and him just don’t agree. We were studying about the cycle of life, and part of it was about the seed and plant and all. I took both him and his sister to pick out some seeds for us to plant and watch them grow. They both chose different flowers. We still haven’t started the process, but we will soon. I need to do some research as to how to go about planting seeds, so that we will be successful in growing the flowers. If you have any advice, that would be great.
You are so lucky to have a beautiful gerbera lasting all year. I just love gerberas.
        hugs 🙂 ❤

      • Interesting, my youngest grandson has Asperger’s as well. He is on the low end ot the autism spectrum but it has taken a great deal of patience and work to get him where he is today at the age of 12. As for the seeds, Staci, be sure to read what it says on the packet and do what it says. Some need to be presoaked before you put them out and some need to be just scattered on the ground or soil while others need a thin layer of soil on them. One of the easiest seeds to start from seed is that of the morning glory or moonflower. They do have to be presoaked, but once they are, I nearly always get a large number of them to germinate. After they they self sow very easily. In fact I have to pull a lot of them up or they’d take over the yard. I was just out looking today and found some that had germinated since I put them out last week. Of course I squealed with delight like a kid would. The other thing to be sure of is when to sow the seeds. Some need warmer conditions than others and some have certain times. I hope this helps. Hugs, N 🙂 ❤
