I discovered this passionflower (in the first photo) as it was opening to the morning’s light and thought to myself, “what an gangly, unsightly thing!” Then as I watched, slowly but surely it expanded from its misshapenness into what you see in the second photo–the glorious thing it was meant to be. At that moment, it was if dawn’s breeze had indeed briefly lifted the veil of God, and I could see His face smiling in divine revelation of the importance of the day’s gift. The lesson was not to be blinded by first appearances ever but always to wait for His light to reveal the true nature and beauty of people and things. Like the flower, if we allow God to work in us and through us, our awkward beginnings can evolve into the splendor and purpose He intended, for in all of us, “There is a morning inside waiting to burst open in the light.” ~Rumi

Those sweet awe filling moments when the veil is briefly lifted are the greatest gifts indeed—and often easily and readily missed—especially in the busy chaotic pace or our days–we don’t often take the time to wait and linger…thank you for this beautiful thought and reminder to “be still and wait”

      • And where as my wooden spoon and pan comment is referencing your comment on the grackle story and is not fitting exactly here with our veil discussion you need to know I’m practicing like yo told me– I put the app on the phone and I’m practicing for the trip- but I’m thinking I need more practice 😗 and I still think I may use the time in Ireland as a blog sabbatical 😜

      • Oh, great, you’ll get the hang of it. It took a while to get it right. The sabbatical thing is probably a good idea, but I would love to hear ane see through your eyes and words what’s happening. But I guess you could just post blogs about it when you get back. It might be really good for you to get away from it all, and just leave me and grackles in the dark until you get back. Hee hee, 🙂
