Let my soul smile through my heart
and my heart smile through my eyes,
that I may scatter rich smiles in sad hearts.
~Paramahansa Yogananda
Too often we underestimate the power of
a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear,
an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring,
all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
~Leo Buscaglia
A smile is the light in your window
that tells others that there is a
caring, sharing person inside.
~Denis Waitley
After every storm the sun will smile;
for every problem there is a solution,
and the soul’s indefeasible duty
is to be of good cheer.
~William R. Alger
Be thou the rainbow in the storms of life,
The evening beam that smiles the clouds away,
and tints tomorrow with prophetic ray.
~Lord Byron
A gentle word, a kind look, a good-natured smile
can work wonders and accomplish miracles.
~William Hazlitt
The happiness of life is made up of minute fractions –
the little, soon forgotten charities of a kiss or a smile,
a kind look or heartfelt compliment.
~Samuel Taylor Coleridge
What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity.
These are but trifles, to be sure; but scattered along life’s pathway,
the good they do is inconceivable.
~Joseph Addison
The fact that I can plant a seed and it becomes a flower,
share a bit of knowledge and it becomes another’s,
smile at someone and receive a smile in return,
are to me continual spiritual exercises.
~Leo Buscaglia
Because of your smile,
you make life more beautiful.
~Thich Nhat Hanh
Smile, for everyone lacks self-confidence
and more than any other one thing
a smile reassures them.

A smile is the

Natalie, I’ve been sleeping so well since I finally got settled in here. I’m still working on my “work and hobby” room, but there is no hurry now. The only deadlines are self imposed, and I have been too exhausted to impose deadlines. I just want to get my yarn back into the separate projects it was in before the move. It seems to have become all mixed together on the shelves, so it will take a bit of time, but that’s okay. I have lots of time. Hugs right back. A.

You can spend a whole day hanging in there LMS. 🙂 Look, to be honest I’m having good and bad ones. I broke down and cried in the chemist shop last week. I had a conversation with the pharmacist about the latest medication I tried last year for my ptsd. It turned me into a zombie for a week. She explained that it was the best they had on offer, and no, the side effects would never go away. So the thought hit me that after 43 years of this crap I wouldn’t be getting better anytime soon. So I cried. A sad day indeed.

Yes, you can spend a whole day or more hanging in there, Sir L, and that’s what I’m doing today and for that matter most days. This narrative broke my heart for you dear L. I’m so sorry that you had such a sad, sad day. I so wish I could do something to make it better. Someone asked the other day when I’d had the last pain free day, and when I replied that I was in my twenties and am now in my seventies, she was taken aback. I wish I could explain and understand human suffering, but then even, Christ, our Savior, knew of it as well as He hung on the cross for our sakes. So I’m laying both of us at the foot of His Cross and asking for healing, and if that’s not possible, that He grant us comfort, peace, and strength to endure what we must. Perhaps, like a wooden instrument that is carved out of wood by knives, silver that is refined by fire, glass that is formed by intense heat, steel that is forged by extreme heat, our souls must be gouged out by pain and suffering, so that the best part of us can be found and polished into the radiance of that which we were at birth. I heard a song the other day where the man was thanking the Lord for making us holy. And though it was wonderful that he was praising God, I said out loud and with tears running down my face, like yours, that I was holy to begin with and what the Lord does is restore our holiness and wash away that which corrupted our sacredness in this world. Sir L, I hope you know that you are one of my most favorite people on this planet, and I care about you and will continue to pray for both of us. May you become aware of the Lord’s presence in you and around you and one day welcome an personal encounter with Jesus. He has never left you, He loves you, and He wants to engage in a relationship with you. Your suffering may not change, but He promises to grant us the strength, one day at a time, to make it through whatever comes our way. Just so you know, your LMS, has been LMC(cloudy) on more days than I can count, but I won’t let what comes against me defeat or define me. You and I both have too good a heart for anything less than to rise above the world’s madness and reclaim the sanctity in which our souls were forged. Love and hugs, dear Laurence. I pray this has been a better day! 🙂 ❤

I didn’t intend to upset you Natalie, I just needed to share the pain so to speak. I don’t often open myself up, except to Lorelle. It amazes me how many people don’t understand what pain is all about. I admire you for your strength, religious conviction and your desire to heal me. You are quite right about how we are here to endure, suffer, learn and progress in this life. The trouble is we tend to forget that at time. Don’t misunderstand me, it’s not all misery. The good parts, the happiness and joy sometimes fall by the wayside. We’ve had the discussion about why I don’t believe but it doesn’t stop me from admiring the faith in others. I firmly believe that there is some force, entity, being or whatever far more knowing than us but I can’t put a name to it. That concentrated thoughts can heal and change people, that we need a belief in something to stop us from all killing each other off, although that seems to happen regardless. So little miss cloudy it’s about time that you broke through to the sunshine too. We can do it together. I love life so much that I make myself enjoy it when I can. One has to Natalie otherwise this whole journey is for nothing. Yes, it’s been a better day. It doesn’t take much to brighten me up: I snapped a great shot of a Galah coming in to land, which I will put up next week. Then, when I was checking the horses a King Parrot flew after me, sat on the fence and let me come up close. He followed me back to the feeder and ate out of my hand. That was magical, a wild creature trusted me. So the day ended on a happy note.
Love’n Hugs
Laurence.

Oh, I was just upset for you, Sir L. I hate that you are having to endure such. I’m glad you’ve had a better day. And that’s so cool that the Parrot followed you and ate out of your hand. Ya know what I think; that was a messenger sent by the Lord to help your day end on a happy note. 🙂 🙂 🙂 ❤
