Nature’s seasons don’t change in one fell swoop. Instead they keep us tottering a while on the edge of that which comes next. And so it is with autumn! Inch by inch and day by day she proffers more signs of her coming. Acorns are dropping from the oaks, the squirrels quickly snap up the nutty little treasures, a random smattering of leaves are changing colors, and the days are growing shorter and shorter.
The light this time of year,
eclipses summer light by far.
An eerie feeling is in the air,
as we feel what great artist’s share.
They go there for the light.
They go there for the color.
They go there for the sight,
of the Sun dancing on the water.
And we come too, to catch the sight,
of dust floating in the light.
Slanting beams through cracks and seams,
lazy days in and out of dreams.
A time for calm and reflection.
A time to study light’s deflection.
~Excerpted lines from a poem

Light in a messenger’s eyes brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones. ~Proverbs 15:30 ✝

Wowza. How much time do you spending finding these treasures of quotes and photos each day Natalie?

It depends, monsieur! Usually a couple of hours or maybe a little more depending on how much is involved in them. The one with all the flowers that I had to create collages out of took longer than most.
The ones where I do most of the writing my self take longer as well. But hey, I’m retired and I enjoy doing it.
Hugs, N 🙂 ❤

Why thank you for the lovely compliment, Brad. I sponsored the yearbook for 5 years at the High School where I taught, and in so doing I learned a lot about photography and how to lay photos out well so as to tell stories. As I always wanted to be an artist but lack the talent to draw and paint as well as that requires, this is a way for me to fulfill that creative need. Also, being an English teacher, I’ve always loved literature of all kinds. I’d like to have been a writer too, but alas, the talent for that wasn’t great either so I rely on others to say what I feel but am unable to express well in the written word. So you see, my friend, my posts are really labors of love that I waited a long time to be able to spend time on, and I’m so thankful the Lord has granted me this time to do that. Have a wonderful weekend. Love, N 🙂 ❤

Oh me too, Crystal. I get so tired of our long hot, miserable summers! I’m glad you enjoyed it and it made you excited for autumn too. Hugs, N 🙂 ❤

Lovely Natalie. I don’t get to experience a true North American autumn anymore. I love where I live, and all the sun and warmth, but autumn also has special treasures, doesn’t it? As well as Pumpkin spice coffee drinks and thanksgiving yummies. 🙂
Love and hugs ❤

It and spring are my two favorite seasons of the year, Staci, and I would hate not having both of them and especially since I have to endure these dreadful summers here. I loved southern California. It was warm and sunny and delightful, but I hate July and August in Texas. It just a test of endurance for me to make it through them. I know I shouldn’t feel that way, but I have just never adjusted to this kind of heat. Love and hugs, N 🙂 ❤

So sorry to hear that Natalie. You should go on vacation during these months. Or maybe a summer home a little more north, or by the sea? Hmmmm. Sounds nice to me. 🙂
Hope you had a lovely weekend Natalie.
Love and hugs. 🙂 ❤

I love these colors! The cat photo is so soft and beautiful! When I saw the spider web, I realized how many spider webs I’ve seen around my yard lately. Maybe the spiders are having a fall fling.

Me too, JoAnna; I love everything about autumn! I think spiders do have a fall fling because I always see so many more webs now than in the summer. Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs, N 🙂 ❤
