Each one of us has an inner room
where we can visit to be cleansed of
fear-based thoughts and feelings.
This room, the holy of holies,
is a sanctuary of light.
~Marianne Williamson
Sanctuary, on a personal level, is where
we perform the job of taking care of our soul.
~Christopher Forrest McDowell
The ache for home lives in all of us,
the safe place where we can go
as we are and not to be questioned.
~Maya Angelou
A sanctuary is your space,
a safe place in a troubling world,
private and strong for healing wounds
an oasis where you can relax
take off your shoes
enjoy being your true self
feel free, think big, think small
take your time and breathe
savor the moment
open up your heart and
laugh, cry, or be crazy if you like…
“Remember the entrance
to the sanctuary is inside you.”
~Rumi
You’re my place of quiet retreat; I wait for Your Word to renew me. ~Psalm 119:114 (MSG) ✝

Truely beautiful, we all need a quiet place to be our own self. That is important even if it is just a corner of a room to retreat and enjoy and mull over our inner most thoughts.

Oh indeed we do, dear Brad. We added onto our house before my mom died so she could spend her last days with us. When she died, James said I could use this room as my studio. I call it Natalieworld and I spend most of my day out here in my own little personal space and I love it. Hugs, N 🙂 ❤

Well, darn, why didn’t I think of that song. That would have been a perfect one to go with this post. Thanks for sharing that. I may still go back at add it to the bottom of the post. It’s perfect for this one, and it’s one I’ve always loved. Hugs, N 🙂 ❤

After finding it, I sang it over and over and then listened to the instrumentals after it. I really needed that. ❤ 🙂

Me too, JoAnna. Then when I went to youtube to get the URL to add it to my blog, something was going wrong with their website and I couldn’t even do that. Oh well. At least we enjoyed the song for a while. Love, N 🙂 ❤

This is truly a blessing to people who may not realize they need respite from the world, Natalie. Retreating to a safe and serene setting, especially nature’s wonders are able to renew and refresh in more than one way. Fresh (O 2) oxygen from plants or negative ions by sitting by a stream or body of water, Natalie help quench our “physical thirst .” Our “spiritual self” may be quenched Here, by your side. You fill us up and help us find our way back to God. You won’t let us wander away . Hugs, Robin
You have a James and my son is,34 today on September 24.

Thanks for such a lovely comment! Robin, I wandered away from the Lord for a long time because of some unfortunate and painful things in my life. But He pursued me until He won me back, and so now I do my best to praise and worship Him whenever I can. Happy birthday to your son! My James has a birthday on October 22nd, and oh my goodness it just dawned on me that he’ll be 80 this year. I’m 7 years younger than he, but the good Lord willing I’ll get there one day too.
Have a wonderful weekend, my friend. Love and hugs, N 🙂 ❤

The picture of the chaise is gorgeous!
This post is so inspiring. I have such a long way to go. I am still a fearful type of person. I make a little progress, but have so many setbacks.
“There is a book I love. It is called Hinds Feet In High Places” by Hannah Hurnard. It is an allegory. The protagonist is named “Much Afraid”…that’s me.
I will have to read this post again, and really take it in.
Hugs and Blessings,
Theresa

Oh we all have our fears, Theresa. I’ve always told my daughter that no one goes upward in a straight line. We all shoot up for a while then fall back a while and so one. As long as we keep moving forward, we’re gonna be okay. Remember always the Lord has your back and promises to uphold you in His righteous right hand. Hugs and blessings, N 🙂 ❤
