Nature is a sacred text
Pages with the deepest truths
Beyond all outward forms
Lies the secret place of wisdom
Valuable things are buried deep
The ocean’s pearls and mountain’s gems
If you wish for worthy objects
You must brave the depths of darkness
Here is where the lesson lies
It’s the same with you and I
We must feel the hurt and pain
Campaign in the aching grief
Beyond all the crippling fear
Beyond all the violent tears
Unveiled is the greatest treasure
Nothing but your holy heart
Here you’ll find paradise
Gardens growing love and life
A peace so deep it can’t be moved
Flowing springs of beauty’s truth

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” ~Matthew 5:14-16 ✝

The first line says it all…”nature is a sacred text”—no truer words spoken and how apropos my Sacred Touches friend 🙂

Wonderful choices of inspiration and consolation. We all have our wounds, but we don’t all succeed in seeing them as full of light. XOXO

Thank you, Brenda. Sometimes it’s hard to see them as full of light until we move farther on down the road of our life’s journey. Hugs, N 🙂 ❤ xoxo

And such good grist for the writer’s wheel do they bring. It is a great muse and adds the colors of the soul to the words. Hugs, N 🙂 ❤

I’m not sure I would want to read the words of a writer with no scars, except in my kids’ writing classes. 🙂

Oh, I agree. Suffering has a way of carving out the soul and exposing the best of its contents. Without it, the character of a person is pretty darned lackluster. 🙂 ❤

Yes, with suffering, a person can feel genuine compassion rather than pity.

Hi Natalie. It’s been a while eh. I was traveling and then there was big workshop here at our base. Trying to get back into the swing of things now.
What a timely post for me to read. I have decided to read the teachings of Jesus during my quiet times for the next little while. I just finished the beattitudes this morning and went on to ‘the salt and light’ passage. I love that one. Rumi’s quote and the scripture really hit home with me. I believe that good comes out of suffering, and that we need to be lights. Thanks you for this today.
Hugs and love

This reminds of a song we sung in Sunday School when I was little. “This little light of mine…………….”. One of my favorite songs as a child. An such a true to life blog, we do not find a true and pure happiness until we have worked through the darkness of life.

Yeppers, it was and is still one of my favorites. And you are so right about us having to work through the darkness of life to find true happiness. Love, N 🙂 ❤
