The sun does not shine for a few trees and
flowers, but for the wide world’s joy.
~Henry Ward Beecher
Have you ever seen anything
in your life more wonderful
than the way the sun,
every evening, relaxed and easy,
floats toward the horizon
and into the clouds or the hills,
or the rumpled sea, and is gone–
and how it slides again
out of the blackness, every morning,
on the other side of the world,
like a red flower streaming upward
on its heavenly oils,
say, on a morning in early light,
at its perfect imperial distance–
and have you ever felt
for anything such wild love–
do you think there is anywhere,
in any language,
a word billowing enough
for the pleasure that fills you,
as the sun reaches out,
as it warms you as you stand there,
empty-handed–or have you too
turned from this world–
or have you too gone crazy
for power, for things?
~Mary Oliver
And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars—all the heavenly array—do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the Lord your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven. ~Deuteronomy 4:19 ✝

Red sky at night, sailors delight 🙂 better days ahead indeed—however, here it is grey with heavy rains mixed with a few tornados—promises of clear skies in the morning 🙂

Yeppers, I remember that saying too. Oh I do hope you don’t get hit with tornados in your area and that indeed you have clear sunny skies in the morning. Today was our first sunny day all day for weeks. It was wonderful and so started getting the greenhouse ready for winter. Hugs, N 🙂 ❤

I love sunsets and sunrises. Sunsets better though, they are so pretty here, especially after a storm has rolled through.

Me too, V. And here as well sunsets are usually more spectacular than sunrises. Hugs, N 🙂 ❤

This is beautiful Natalie. I’m on the sunset side of my building, so never get to see a real sunrise any more, and I miss that. Probably if I went to bed at a decent time I could wake in time when the sun is shining to see it rise, but I’m a night person, and can’t adjust to the fact that there is a 10 am as well as pm. I actually saw a sunset tonight, after several rainy, gloomy days, and it was another of God’s blessings. So many, many blessings lately. If He says “no” to one thing, He blesses me with a better alternative I don’t even anticipate. Life is so wonderful.

Oh, I’m so glad life is wonderful right now for you, dear Angie!. Like you I see more sunsets than dawns these days but both are equally beautiful so it’s all good. Love and huge hugs, N 🙂 ❤

We had a sunset last night Natalie. The rain stopped almost at sunset, and I got a couple of photos. They need some work, but I posted one this morning, or maybe more than one. Now I’m trying to fix my other site so I can make it the old format. I’m in hate with this new format, or maybe just in a strong dislike with it. Don’t really hate much except the evil one.
Love and hugs from KY, A.

God certainly does provide amazing eye candy. Have you ever heard the song ‘Why do we hunger for beauty’ by Steve Bell?

Here are a couple of links. The first is the full song. The second is like a commentary with him speaking. Very short, but I think you would love what he has to say.

There is beauty in so many parts of creation but my eyes seek the sun, moon and stars the most. I love these gifts God bestowed upon us. ♡

Ah, the sun shines just for me, right here, in my little nook. And there for you, too. Isn’t that a lovely paradox. A paradise even.

Sunsets and sunrises are priceless treasures. I’m reminded of the time I shared not wanting to bother God with my little requests, thinking God is too busy and I wanted to save my prayers for the big stuff. A friend of mine told me to think about how the sun shines equally on everyone. The sun is so powerful that it doesn’t take any more effort to shine 100 people than it does to shine on one person.

What a good way to look at it. I used to feel that way too but now I take it all to God! Hugs and love, N 🙂 ❤
