Joy does not simply happen to us.
We have to choose joy
and keep choosing it every day.
~Henri J.M. Nouwen

Every day
I see or hear
something
that more or less
kills me
with delight,
that leaves me
like a needle
in the haystack
of light. It was what
I was born for –
to look, to listen,
to lose myself
inside this soft world –
to instruct myself
over and over
in joy,
and acclamation.
~Excerpt from the poem, Mindful,
by Mary Oliver
…for I have always been mindful of your unfailing love and have lived in reliance on your faithfulness. ~Psalm 26:3 ✝

Love this! Yes, joy does not necessarily always come to us, we have to create it for ourselves, and in that way add our joy to the world to be a light for others 💖🕯💖🕯💖🕯

Father Nouwen is so right when he reminds us that we have to continually choose—not being dependent upon the feeling itself. It is not to merely be received and “felt” but it is to be an action, a decision and a choice indeed—a remindful push—thank you for pushing!!!!

Thank you for pushing too. He is so right and no matter what comes against us, we have to eak out as much joy as we can. And you my friend, are a great source of joy in my life. Love and hugs, N 🙂 ❤

So true. It is said we are masters of our own destiny. I prefer the verse that states we get back what we give ten fold. So actually it is our choice to live our life with love and kindness to others than to be hateful and doing harm. All depends on what we want in return.

This quote resonated with me, feeling I have learned more on my rocky road than smooth sailing would have taken me. Take care, Natalie.

Wonderful Natalie. Yes, yes, yes, to making choices, and not just obeying your feelings. And a quadruple yes for living each and every moment.
Love and hugs. Have a wonderful Sunday.
