We have to dare to be ourselves,
however frightening or strange
that self may prove to be.
~May Sarton

Now I become myself. It’s taken
Time, many years and places;
I have been dissolved and shaken,
Worn other people’s faces,
Run madly, as if Time were there,
Terribly old, crying a warning,
“Hurry, you will be dead before-”
(What? Before you reach the morning…)
Now to stand still, to be here,
Feel my own weight and density!
All fuses now, falls into place
From wish to action, word to silence,
My work, my love, my time, my face
Gathered into one intense
Gesture of growing like a plant.
As slowly as the ripening fruit
Fertile, detached, and always spent,
Falls but does not exhaust the root,
Now there is time and
Time is young.

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood… ~Excerpt from Ephesians 4:25 ✝

In the end, I do believe truth will set us free, Natalie. Being false, will ultimately be discovered and then, embarrassment ensues. It has happened in our past. Everyone may have told a white lie which led to more until like a castle made of cards or story created behind smoke screen, it will go up in flames or all fall down.
As an older person, I also feel it is hard to remember what has been said, much easier yo just remember the truth. Too bad politicians and others, sometimes business leaders don’t stick to the facts and truth! I like the book of Ephesians abd am glad it suggests putting off falsehoods. 🙂

And it’s so tedious trying to be what we’re not. And I don’t know why we are ever made to think that what and who we are is not okay. With me, what you see is pretty muchly what you get. Nearly always has been. Love and hugs, N 🙂 ❤

So true. I especially like the pic with the quote of, ‘be yourself, everyone else is taken’.

Good for you, Zee. I hope you take it to heart. For you are a one of a kind work of art, and God is well-pleased with that which He has made. You go girl, learn to love the Lord, and be all that you can be so that when you get to be as old as I am you have no regrets. Love and hugs, N 🙂 ❤
