very poignant in today’s reality…I see too many turning away and leaving life because it is “too hard”— we have to instill more hope and love in one another, regardless of the pain we endure along the way
Natalie, I was just thinking recently how much I have shut down compared to who I used to be because of how much life just has pounded on me. I mourned that loss and at that moment I determined to get my sparkle back, get those emotions back, especially my laughter!! Great post!! ❤
I have pondered over this so many times before, shutting off maybe seem like an easier option but with time I’ve realized “feelings” are necessary… we are often afraid to feel, especially if it’s a sad one but it’s so important to help us grow. This was a great reminder, Thanks for sharing this Natalie ! ❤ 🙂
You’re so welcome! Here’s the thing, Zee, when we shut off we don’t get hurt and sad but it’s a bad trade off because then we don’t get the joy and laughter either. And I can’t deal with that!
We start out as children to be open and caring souls. I think life hits and we start to stray away. Time now to let our inner child teach us once again to love and care as we did as a child.
I’m wired to be empathetic, but to survive as a substance abuse counselor for thirty years, I’ve had to find a balance between feeling too much and being cold. The pendulum does swing at varying degrees, so it’s an on-going search. I imagine that’s true for most of us. That’s a fascinating picture, by the way. The eyes look like they could open any second. Or maybe it’s time for me to get some rest. 😉
Ooh I’ll bet that’s definitely not an easy task. I agree about the swinging pendulum affecting most of us. You are wise enough to keep a good balance. 😊❤️😘
So true – si generous – thank you dear Natalie – Hugs and kisses 🙂
