Fall the Summer Reign (Revised)

As fat, hot rain drops,
slams into the dry crust
it no longer sizzles on the blacktop,
but glosses rocks, kicks up dust.

The sweltered green woods
yielding to flaming collage,
gold and vermilion,
forest’s seasonal montage.
