Natalie, thank you for posting this reminder. There is one piece missing however as you have to know war to appreciate peace. Problem is there has never been a lasting peace at anytime on this planet.
I know, there are so many other ways to settle differences. However it’s easier to force your way in with war than games of peace. Rio 2016 has shown that cheaters, even State sponsored, will be caught. The current release by Russian State hackers smacks of sour grapes and an attempt to discredit the Olympic Committee for clamping down on the Russian Federation who never submitted a TUE for any of their paralympians while allowing others to use banned drugs to perform as athletes. The difference being declaring use against trying to mask use.
Anyway, if diplomacy and sanctions fail then another peaceful solution should be sought ahead of confrontation and war.
We have to hold our politicians accountable for every war they send our troops into. Yes we need to be ready in case we’re attacked but that doesn’t give us the right to become the aggressor.
