oh I do love ravens and crows—very smart birds—the Hopi fetish of a raven is known as a trickster spirit….and they are known to bring “gifts” to those who feed them…usually a sparkly little piece of trash or glass….I’ve been waiting as I through bread out in the yard all the time for them, but I’ve yet to get a gift—-just a lot of loud squawking 🙂

But yes, they can’t fly very far or very high in one go. I would suppose that their size and tail and small wings (relative to body) hinders them from flying too much. I have also seen peacocks atop high trees, and saw one going from branch to branch, flying a bit higher in each step.
