K-bam fell the…

K-bam fell the other shoe when the bone biopsy report came in. And the name it bore was as alarming as its reality–Myelodysplastic syndrome, pre-leukemia. And the course of recommended treatment by my current oncologist is for transfusions and chemotherapy for this MDS which is a bone marrow failure where the body no longer makes enough healthy, normal blood cells in the bone marrow and if left untreated will progress to acute myeloid leukemia. So today because my hemoglobin had dropped to 5.6, I received two units of blood and tomorrow will be administered the third to get my count up to at least 8. And now tonight that our heads are not swimming quite so full of shock and apprehension about this diagnosis, we think perhaps we should get a second opinion as there are some discrepancies between what we have been told by our oncologist/hematologist and some data we’ve read on the internet. In the meantime I’ve also been reading up on all the foods that one needs to be eating to help promote healthy bone growth because I know that the Lord is not ready to bring me home just yet, or I wouldn’t even be relating this tale. So I will press forward in hopes He still has plans for my life knowing that He is still as in charge of all that happens as He has always been. So don’t count me gone just yet!!!

  2. That does sound a little better than what you were expecting. Yes, do get a second opinion and pray that it is better than this one. You remain in my prayers and now for an even better outcome.

  3. God has you, and He will keep you here, until He feels he needs you more up there. But you see, dear Natalie, we need you more down here. And He knows that because I keep telling Him. I know he’s listening. Much love, my friend xoxo ❤️🤗

  5. You go girl…..I will continue to keep you in my prayers and you continue your positive attitude and your taking one day at a time….it is helping us all to count our blessings and to be thankful for what we can still do and enjoy. I remember our “blessings” you would send up every morning on our school computer….they got me through many a day. Thank you so much for all those “little things” that meant so much and now here you are again walking us through another difficult time in our lives. As you said….God is not through with you yet! And I say Praise the Lord…Love you and thanks for all the memories….happy and sad…..keep them coming.

  6. You are no where near gone or counted so, but alive and kickin’ ! 🙂 I’m glad you have more information and that you’re getting a second opinion. Hopefully the transfusions will make you feel better. Love and prayers continue for your health and comfort. ❤

  7. Oh Natalie….I am so sorry that you have to go through all this. I think it may be wise to get a second opinion. I did that when I had breast cancer and it turned out well.
Please know that I will be praying for you. I can still see your beautiful light shining from over here. Lots of love xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

  9. Don’t panic, Natalie. This happened to me and I was given two pints of blood and an IV of Iron, B12 every 6 or 9 weeks. It is not unusual I was told and it seemed to do the trick, my labs are checked every two weeks and I have passed the danger point. I will keep praying for you, my dear friend. I know you will make it through. xoxo
