Interestingly, A. A. Milne didn’t write the Winnie-the-Pooh stories and poems for children but instead intended them for the child within all of us which as I’ve written before must continue to be nurtured and kept alive. They were written by a British author almost a hundred years ago, and yet the characters remain endearing and teach profoundly important life lessons. I read these stories over and over again to my daughter until she was long past the age most children want to read children’s books, and I did the same with my grandchildren. But ya know, it could well be said that I read them as much for my pleasure as theirs.

I still read them from time to time but I prefer the original drawings to the Disney characters. You’re right – they are great life lessons.

Thanks. I do too, and as a matter of fact just changed the big picture of piglet to one of the original drawings. Wish I’d thought of it before I put the post up. Oh well. You might want to take another look. 🙂 ❤

I love children’s literature. At least 5 of my top ten books would be from that genre.

This is so sweet of you to mention this loving AA Milne’s book. He definitely had a gentle heart and knew how kids made messes and love animals!
I thoroughly enjoyed when my Dad read about the folks who lived at Pooh’s Corner. I am sure I have told you he read it as if Christopher were just a page boy hair cut on a girl named Robin. 😉

I love these stories too! ❤ I read lots of Children's books 🙂 Sometimes, or actually most of the time, I prefer them to adult books. 🙂 Children's books are more philosophical and deep, books for adults have too much drama in them.
