Give Me Strength!

“Give Me Strength
This is my prayer to thee, my lord—
Give me the strength lightly to bear my joys and sorrows.
Give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service.
Give me the strength never to disown the poor or bend my knees before insolent might.
Give me the strength to raise my mind high above daily trifles.
And give me the strength to surrender my strength to thy will with love.”

Update…
There has been one last worrisome factor in my breast surgery saga, and since many of you have asked me to keep you updated here goes. Nearly 6 years ago when I had my stroke, scans showed that I had some nodules in my lungs, but at that time they ruled them as benign entities. Then when they did a chest x-ray prior to my breast surgery in April, they noticed them again and ordered a subsequent CAT-Scan and PET-Scan which the oncologist has now compared to the ones from 6 years ago. And what she sees is that some of the old ones have disappeared, the rest of the old ones that have remained are the same, but there is a new 1.7 mm one in the upper lobe of my right lung. (Incidentally the 9mm ductal carcinoma was in my right breast.) And so we talked about it and what it means and what to do about it. Right now she believes it just needs to be observed as it is very small, the sugar intake for the PET-Scan was not very high, and there is a risk when doing a biopsy that the lung can collapse. So since my next appointment with her was to be in August, she is going to order a CAT-Scan to be done shortly before that appointment so she can see if it is enlarging or remaining the same. Given that my family and I have decided that it is the prudent thing to do at this time. Nevertheless keep those prayers coming though as this will be a very long, hot summer in many ways. Despite this valley of concern I have to walk again, I know I’m not alone and I praise God for all the ways that He loves me and cares for me. The Lord holds Creation and all of His children in a cocoon of light like the petals of a sunflower surround the center of its being. Therefore we must celebrate our days and the blessing of life regardless of how long or short it is.

Softly
Whispers of wisdom
filter through softly,
unexpected yet not quite so
as the larger ones come seeking
a conversation
with a heart in need.
Eyes that gaze deeply
in their bottomless kind way
we dive in to the freshness
of a new view unseen
yet somehow always known.
We are small before the majesty
of a thought that holds so much,
spilling over without a word
we soak up the goodness
and know how blessed we are
when softly they come
these lingering doubts and fears,
higher we step to rise above
saved in our faith
of light and love.
Maybe your sadness needs your attention today.

Today I found my sadness sitting all alone,
I reached down and scooped her up.
I held her gently as she wept.
I felt an etching of tenderness in a deeper place.
Sadness looked in my eyes and whispered,
”thank you for listening”~
she then gracefully danced away…
Maybe your sadness needs your attention today.
Go ahead, take a moment and hold it close.
It will nourish what is growing and settle your soul.
