“We seem so frightened today of being alone
that we never let it happen. Even if family, friends
and movies should fail, there is still the radio
or the television to fill up the void. . . .
Now, instead of planting our solitude with our own dream blossoms,
we choke the space with continuous music,
chatter and companionship to which
we do not even listen.
It is simply there to fill the vacuum.
When the noise stops there is no
inner music to take its place.
We must re-learn to be alone.”

This is so perfect for my mantra of the year, take time in quiet. I’m not automatically turning music on in the car. I sit and paint in silence. I have reduced my online time dramatically and continue to cut time on my phone. I meditate in the moments I can squeeze it in. It is a new way of being. And, admittedly, lonely at times, but I think that’s the point. I had lost being okay with being alone. Frankly, I love being alone. I always have enjoyed it. But when the noise is so a part of it all and then it’s gone, it’s stark. Once I become re accustomed to myself again I think much of the loneliness will dissipate. This was very relevant to my life now. Thanks Natalie.

I love my time alone, Natalie. It’s a good thing, because most of my time is spent alone. I love staying up at night because that is the time when all the world shuts down and I go on alone and in silence. My hearing shuts down when the world intrudes and the noise level goes up. I would hate to suffer nerve damage because I let the world intrude on my alone time. HUGS, Natalie. A.

I’m getting well now, Natalie. I’ve been down with sinus problems worse than usual this year, but maybe they will clear up when the weather does. And tonight I think I’ll sleep long and restfully. -AND ALONE!!!

In the deepest darkness in the stillness of the night it is there we hear the still small voice of God speaking to us… He speaks in dreams and visions of the night … its quiet solitude of the mind that is still without interference of the flesh… he has full access to the core of our being… he speaks… but do we listen? He who has ears let him hear what the Spirit is saying…
